The Blind Side: The Review…Warning this Movie review will tell you all about the movie so if you haven't seen it do not proceed.
The Blind Side is the true story about a foster kid making it to a top rated Division I College football program and becoming a top NFL draftee by overcoming the hardships of poverty, gangs, and the foster system. That African–American kid, Micheal Oher, played by Quinton Aaron, who is trying just to survive, is given an opportunity when a white southern woman brings him into her home. Much of Michael’s early ears were wasted and filled with criminal parents and other bad influences. Michael Ohers road to success is an amazing story but he had to have three things to make his life better and those are support, hard work, and opportunity.
In the movie, Michael starts off homeless and the school freak, and then a woman named Leigh Ann Tuohy, played by Sandra Bullock, takes him under her wing and begins being the motherly figure in Michael’s life. When Michael is part of the Tuohy family he begins playing football at such an amazing level that he is being scouted for scholarships from top Universities. The family learns that Michael is ineligible with his current GPA so they push him forward and hire a private tutor that teaches him more than just a curriculum; she molds his mind to think independently and intelligently. After Michael is given his push in the right direction he begins to be more social.
Michael's hard work paid off finally when he ends up being elegible for the college draft and scholarship. In my mind he owes much to his new family but then you realize that it is his will to push himself and finish hard, that in the long run carried him to his success. This story is very inspirational because this proves to kids all around that you have control of your future, but it also shows that its a lot easier to do the hard thing when you have people who love you standing there and supporting you. Michael was a fortunate kid in that he was handed the opportunity and support. But he alone had to do the hitting and hard work that took him to the top of his profession; he received a $13 million dollar contract with the Baltimore Ravens. He did that himself and that is what it takes to go far in America.
